History

Tintorujo has its origins in a tight bond with a small vineyard in Quillón, town located near the city of Concepción (south of Chile), in which the vast majority of the farmers work at. In that place, its founder grew up looking at the passion men and women had in harvesting grapes to later select them and take them aboard tractors to storage, finally staring the wine production process. Of all this process, what caught her attention the most was the amount of grape pomace (seed and skin) accumulated outside the factory. This is a problem for all vineyards. Regardless of the fact that a large part of the grape pomace is used as compost for the earth, the amount is such –per every three liters of wine, over a kilo of grape pomace is generated- that most of the times it is discarded.

After an intense research process, important properties regarding the effect of grape pomace in the organism were discovered: high concentration of fiber and antioxidants, making this a functional ingredient for gourmet cuisine. Tintorujo processes and manufactures new products daily in its kitchen-lab, with the objective of creating a high-end cuisine line.
